In 2024 Chanje Kunda undertook specialist training on the Myriad project, which shone a ‘Global Majority Spotlight on Creative Health’ aimed to enhance mental health support for global-majority communities across Greater Manchester. Myriad was designed and delivered by a consortium of organisations, including Afrocats and Company Chameleon, and was commissioned by NHS Greater Manchester.
She undertook training on this programme, which lead to an artist residency at 42nd Street in 2025. 42nd Street work with young people age 16- 25, to support their emotional well-being and mental health by offering a choice of effective, creative, young person-centred and rights-based approaches). She ran a series of workshops between March, April and May including working with the young Black women’s group to produce text art for display highlighting the ‘Positive Power of Words’. Chanje also worked with their Nature group to create visual art inspired by nature for display in the counselling rooms.

The text art produced was acrylic on canvas. Chanje lead a series of workshops whereby we looked at the positive power of words, learnt different techniques of painting the background to the text art and using acrylic markers and calligraphy to paint text onto the canvases (as above). She also did workshops with 42nd Street’s nature group to produce some nature inspired collages using paper collage technique below:
